Philosophy of Classroom Management

My philosophy of classroom management is based upon consistency, engagement, and respect. A classroom with clearly defined rules, consequences, procedures, and expectations leads to an environment that encourages learning. Once these aspects of the classroom are present, students can be engaged. If there are distractions or misbehaviors, a classroom cannot operate effectively. Engagement allows for preventing negative behaviors as well as promoting learning. With constant awareness of the classroom environment, I will be able to keep students engaged and active in the lesson. In addition, a classroom culture that demands respect for students and the teacher will help achieve a better-managed classroom. Respect will be built through rapport, classroom activity that teaches and encourages respect and awareness of others, and by setting an example to my students. Overall, a well-managed classroom leads to an atmosphere that sets up each student up for success.
